Post Modern is a set of enhancements to Wizards of the Coast's d20 Modern System intended to facilitate the running of roleplaying games set in the near future history of the planet Earth. The intent of these enhancements is to provide a rules system that is similar to d20 Modern, but in many ways unique.

The primary goals of these enhancements are:

1. To create a plausible near-future setting that draws from both d20 Modern and d20 Future
2. To provide alternative rules pertaining to various combat functions in order to make combat more enjoyable
3. To provide alternative rules pertaining to various non-combat functions in order to make gameplay more interesting

To these ends, it is important to understand the framework of d20 Modern before you can understand what has been changed, and why.

The two recommended places to read about d20 Modern are:

1. Wizards of the Coast's d20 Modern System Reference Document
2. Roarerbull's d20 Modern System Reference Document

Roarerbull's SRD is a much more browser-friendly version of the information from Wizards of the Coast. However, there are some sections that are incomplete, most importantly the sections on d20 Future.
